breaking down the public schools
November 28, 2007 on 1:04 pm | In analysis | 3 CommentsI’m not going to pretend I don’t read the NJO forum, so I’m glad to see my rankings have stirred up such debate. And of course they’re not perfect. That’s the fun part.
Anyway, the thing I noticed most was confusion over which teams are Public A and which teams are Public B. So here’s the full list, with the NJSIAA enrollment numbers I have taken from the NJSIAA website:

I believe the NJSIAA is not considering these last two schools. If it did, a 50-50 split of public schools would occur between Mount Olive (A) and Nutley (B), instead of its current location. However, I have NOT double-checked this with the NJSIAA. I was told explicitly the split was between Hamilton and Nottingham.

You may or may not know the answer to this…but what happens now if more schools join in the next few years, will they re-do the split so that it’s always 50/50?
JY: Off the top of my head, I am pretty sure they will change Public A and Public B before each season to reflect changes in enrollment and additional schools. No confirmation on that, but it’s a pretty good bet. Woodbridge, Colonia, JFK Iselin and Wallkill Valley are planning to compete at the varsity level next year.
