What about Bridgewater-Raritan beating Ridge at Continental in 2007, it was only Ridge's second loss all year and knocked them out of the Championship Game.

Tenafly vs Ramapo? Pretty big upset and a great state tournament game.

I agree with Jon's point above. I'm not sure where you're getting "supposed to get destroyed" when it's 4 vs. 5. The fact that they were champs the year before is irrelevant to that matchup.

What about Middletown North over Randolph in the 2004 quaterfinals? In terms of seeds I know it wasn't a huge upset, but North was a Southern White team who was supposed to get destroyed by the defending public champs, and yet North pulled it out 3-2. No love for that game Jon?

JY: Matt, I hear what you're saying, but when it's 4 vs. 5 game in terms of seeding, it's hard to call it a big upset. During the regular season, Randolph lost to Montclair that year, and Middletown North beat Bridgewater-Raritan, so I think it was a fairly even matchup.

Not sure whether they belong in A or B but I think that West Windsor South may have merited an at-large bid. While the team did struggle down the stretch - and their record did include a number of wins against the weaker squads in the CVC - they did tie both North and Tenafly and had a pair of large wins over tournament qualifier Lawrence. In fact, their two most impressive efforts may have been in losses, 3-1 to Notre Dame and 3-0 against Hopewell. Far and away the best teams in the league.

Did Hunterdon Central apply for an at-large bid? And if so, what was the criteria for them being left out while Bayonne was in?

JY: Bayonne's was an automatic bid. Apparently a non-league game was not reported to njhockey.org, which caused my projections to be off. Hillsborough, Ramapo and West Essex were the at-large selections.

Also, you can be no more than 4 games under .500 to be eligible for an at-large. A 6-11-2 team would not be eligible.
